Air Permit Analyst

Sphere 3 Environmental, Inc. is currently seeking an Air Permit Analyst for our Longview, Texas office to provide regulatory compliance services for industries such as oil and gas, refining, surface coating, and others. This position will be full-time with benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. The successful applicant must demonstrate experience with the position responsibilities or capacity to quickly comprehend and implement the Clean Air Act regulations and state air permitting requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • • Evaluate and interpret regulatory requirements implemented by federal, state, or local environmental agencies.
  • • Determine applicability of air quality regulations, including NSPS, MACT, NESHAP, Emissions Inventory, NSR, PSD, and Title V.
  • • Prepare air permit applications where required by federal, state, or local environmental regulatory agencies for energy/industrial facilities.
  • • Participate in agency consultations, project meetings, and client communications
  • • Prepare reports for the Mandatory Reporting Rule for Greenhouse Gases
  • • Assist with the development of LDAR Monitoring Plans and schedules
  • • Set up projects in project management software and assist with the development of project management reporting, such as weekly progress reports
  • • Prepare technical project documents, including, but not limited to: word processing, Excel spreadsheets, and emission estimates using approved state and federal calculation methodologies
  • Required Qualifications:

  • • Must have at least a BS degree in Engineering, Environmental, Mathematics, or Natural Science field of study
  • • Recent graduate to five years of relevant experience
  • • Strong working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite
  • • Some local and out-of-state travel required
  • • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
  • • Must pass pre-employment drug screen

  • • Experience with Texas, Louisiana, and New Mexico air quality regulations
  • • Experience with Air Dispersion Modeling

    GPS/GIS OPERATOR

    Sphere 3 Environmental, Inc. currently has an open position for a GPS/GIS Operator in its Longview, Texas office. This position will be full-time with benefits.

    The successful applicant will conduct field data collection and GIS mapping for a variety of environmental projects including property assessments, wetland surveys, archaeology surveys, and oil/gas facility assessments/inventories.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct GPS field data collection and assist with other projects as needed.
    • Download, correct, and export GPS data.
    • Utilize ArcMap 10.x. to manage data and prepare project maps.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Geography or science-related field of study.
    • Experience/training with ESRI’s ArcMap software.
    • Ability to work in the field and office environment.
    • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Must be able to travel, work outside in extreme heat or cold weather conditions, and safely conduct the physical aspects of field GPS data collection.

    Optical Gas Imaging Camera Operator

    Sphere 3 Environmental, Inc. currently has an open position for an Optical Gas Imaging Camera Operator based out of its Longview, Texas office. This position will be full-time with benefits. The successful applicant will travel to oil and gas facilities and conduct leak detection surveys utilizing an Optical Gas Imaging infrared camera.

    Responsibilities

    • Utilize an Optical Gas Imaging infrared camera to inspect outdoor piping and equipment associated with oil and gas production facilities, midstream pipeline facilities, and gas plants.
    • Conduct GPS field data collection and assist with other projects as needed.
    • Approximately 75% of your time will be spent conducting field inspections away from the office for projects in Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, with remainder of time spent in the office working on reports, mapping, and assisting with other projects.
    • Will communicate findings with Sphere 3 managers and client representatives both verbally and in written reports.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in an Environmental or Safety related field of study.
    • Must have a clean driving record.

    Wetland Scientist

    This full-time staff position will be responsible for conducting a variety of wetland delineations, reporting, and permitting.

    Responsibilities

    • Will need to comprehend and apply various environmental regulations to assist clients with compliance.
    • Conduct wetland delineations and permitting.
    • Will be responsible for conducting field evaluations of proposed construction areas using U.S. Army Corps of Engineers criteria.
    • Will be responsible for conducting habitat suitability assessments for threatened and endangered species.
    • Coordinate with a variety of clients concerning wetland & stream impacts and avoidance.
    • Will prepare scientific reports and permit applications.
    • Coordinate with state and federal agencies concerning proposed actions.
    • Conduct GPS field data collection and assist with other projects as needed.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in a science-related field of study.
    • Minimum 1 year of field experience conducting wetland identification and delineation surveys including completing USACE data forms.
    • Familiar with mitigation methods and requirements in Texas and Louisiana.
    • Must have a working knowledge of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and a clear understanding of the USACE 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual and its regional supplements.
    • Must have strong plant taxonomy/identification skills.
    • Experience/training with GIS and/or GPS.
    • Ability to work in the field and office environment.
    • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Must be able to travel, work outside in extreme heat or cold weather conditions, and safely conduct the physical aspects of field surveys.
    • Interact in a positive and professional manner with clients and other staff.
